Preschool summer and fall news

Wow!  Summer is here, this year has gone past us fast.  Our graduating students, all 22, are ready to move forward into the world of Kindergarten.  We will miss them and send them off with our prayers and best hopes for a wonderful future.  They have all worked so hard this year learning everything from letters and letter sounds, numbers, plus very important classroom skills like self control!  We think that is one of the hardest skills for anyone to master but our preschoolers have done very well.  We are very proud of each student, congratulations!   Always remember that we so love it when you stop by for a visit anytime in the future!

Our enrollment process continues with classes slowly filling up.  As of the first of June, we do have spaces for more students in all of our classes.  If you have not registered for next fall, do so soon so that your space will not be taken.  AND, if you know of anyone looking for a preschool, would you recommend us?  Your endorsement means so much, in fact it is the very best way for new families to get involved.

Summer events:  We have 2 get togethers planned.  Come to the preschool, if sunny and warm, we will have a picnic outdoors and play in the play park with toys and water.  If it is rainy or too cool, gather in the gym for lunch and then we will bring out the toys.

Dates: July 13th at 11:00AM and August 10th @ 11:00AM

Everyone is invited both current, graduated and new families!

September Dates!
Open House: Thursday, September 10th @ 9:00AM  3's Butterflies!
Open House: Thursday, September 10th @ 12:45 PreK Ladybugs!
Open House Friday, September 11th @ 9:00AM  4's Busy Bees
You will be able to pick up your student enrollment packet, emergency bags, parent handbook plus September Calendars and Newsletters.  We will not be mailing them.  This is a time to visit for preschool, renew friendships and meet new families and friends.  Staff will be available to greet and answer any questions.  Karin Darragh will meet briefly with parents to talk about the new year.  If you are not able to attend, contact the preschool.

Preschool Begins:  Monday, September 14th for both the 4's Busy Bees and Prek Ladybug Classes
Tuesday, September 15th for the 3's Butterflies.
Due the first day of class: Student Enrollment form completed, Emergency Bag, September tuition.
(Remember your tuition is 10 EQUAL payments, September through June.)

We want to close with wishing everyone a very safe and enjoyable summer filled with fun and lots of good memories.  Take care and see you soon!  Blessings,

Director News!

News from Karin

Spring is well under way with the hope of more warm and sunny days ahead.  Our students so love to be outdoors this time of year and with our new additions to our Play Park, it is even more exciting.  We now have a wonderful water feature, a large rock fountain that lays in our dry creek bed.  Students fill buckets to water plants, pour down slides and 'paint' our car and play house.  Washing rocks is always fun, seeing the changing colors.  We experiment with concepts of sink vs float as well.  Trikes are being used in our riding area beside the play park.  Spring is the time for running, exploring and gathering dandelions by the handfuls.  Stop by and visit us out doors, the play park will be open now between classes for parents to use.

Registration for fall classes is still under way.  We currently have openings in all of our fall classes.  All of our current staff will be returning next fall which is wonderful.  As always, you know that your opinion of our program, curriculum  and staff is so very important to us.  Telling other families of your experience with us is always our very best advertising.  Thank you so much, Rose Hill parents for your endorsements.

Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up soon.  I would love to spend some uninterrupted time with you discussing your child and their growth over the past months.  Please sign up for a time slot.  The sign up sheet is posted in the hallway bulletin board for Parent Communications (Monthly Newsletter is posted as well as Science class volunteer list).  Select an open time, sign your name, then be sure to grab a reminder slip for your own records.

Time to share a few important Thank you notes!  First to Brianna Bennitt for her monthly work with our Scholastic Book program.  Each month Brianna puts together our orders online.  Thank you Brianna!
Recently during a Parent Coffee meeting, I shared the need to clean out our trike shed.  Trent Fox volunteered, but did so much more.  Trent and Christy (wife) reorganized and updated all of our emergency supplies.  Thank you, for going above and beyond Trent and Christy.  We are now better prepared to care for our students in the case of an emergency.  We pray that we don't every have to use the supplies of course.

Thank you parents, for your ongoing prayers and support, you are the best!

Registration for next fall (2015-16) preschool year is coming up this month!

We always offer current and past preschool families early registration prior to opening up to the public.  If you have questions or concerns regarding your child's placement for next year, please contact Karin Darragh.

If you have a child with a summer birthday, I would like to conference with you as well.  There is a lot to consider when making the decision to begin the formal education process for your child.

Briefly, our bench marks for Kindergarten entrance include emotional and social development, we want to see our students demonstration emotional control and the important ability to manage positive social interactions with their peers.  Conflict resolution is another important developmental trait.  Most Kindergarten classrooms have one teacher with 18 to 24 students.  One of the most important skills needed is self-control.  This is huge in terms of staying on task, being aware of what is happening and not being distracted.  Self-control is a skill we work on almost everyday in our classes especially the Pre K class.

When talking to Kindergarten through 6th grade teachers, they tell me that self-control along with emotional and social confidence often are the determining factors in school success.  When a student is able to demonstrate these traits, they are able to learn and advance.  A student that is struggling with these issues is not able to focus on academics or learning.

Since every child is unique determining Kindergarten readiness needs to be a thoughtful process taking into account many factors not just birth-dates.

Again, if you have a late spring or summer birthday child, let's get together and evaluate your child's situation.  We want all of our students to move forward with the best possible foundation and maturity that is appropriate for them to continue to love learning and become successful in the future.
